Helping children grow with confidence and independence

At Pärlugglan, we are a small Montessori preschool built on the strength of a caring parent cooperative. Families are closely involved, with real insight and influence in our everyday work. With small groups and attentive teachers, we create a safe and nurturing environment where each child can feel secure, explore freely, and grow at their own pace—both indoors and outdoors in our inspiring child-friendly spaces.

A unique preschool in the heart of Sollentuna.

Montessori

The Montessori approach nurtures children’s independence through an environment carefully designed for them—with child-sized furniture, low shelves, and easily accessible materials. In this setting, children are free to choose and explore at their own pace, while the teacher observes and steps in only when support is needed.

A Day at Pärlugglan

Montessori Preschool Pärlugglan is open on weekdays from 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM, with safe and easy drop-off and pick-up outdoors in our yard. During summer, staff and children enjoy a well-deserved break—the preschool is closed during weeks 28 to 31, as well as week 52 in winter. In addition, the team gathers for four planning days each year.

Parent Cooperative

Montessori Preschool Pärlugglan is a parent cooperative, which means that as a guardian you not only gain insight into the preschool but are also expected to contribute actively to its operation. All parents take part in shared responsibilities such as deep-cleaning (a few times per year), garden days, and our on-call system to cover staff absences. In addition, parents are expected to engage in the board or join one of our working groups, for example for admissions, property, or the garden. Through parent meetings, celebrations, and shared activities, you also get to know both the staff and other families well—creating a strong sense of community and pride in the preschool.

Frequently Asked Questions

Here you’ll find answers to common questions about Pärlugglan.

Are you a parent cooperative?

Yes, Pärlugglan is a parent cooperative, which means that as a guardian you have real insight into the preschool’s daily life. At the same time, it requires a willingness to take part in both practical tasks and decision-making—all to strengthen our community and ensure high quality.

How large are the groups?

We keep our groups small to ensure high quality in both care and learning—research shows that fewer children per group in preschool provides better opportunities for individual attention, security, and emotional development.

What are the preschool’s opening hours?

We are open Monday to Friday from 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM, offering both flexibility for parents and security for children.

Where can I ask questions about the waiting list and enrollment?
